Karen Dorsey was born in New York City, but has called South Florida her home for over 25 years.
With intense experience in business administration, Mrs. Dorsey has successfully owned, managed and currently provides consulting services for small businesses and non-profit organizations.
Since 2007, Mrs. Dorsey has served as the Event Coordinator for the DCA Jazz Ensemble led by her husband, Christopher Dorsey. The DCA Jazz Ensemble has earned the reputation as one of the finest jazz bands in the country.
On May 15, 2011, the DCA Jazz Ensemble, placed First in " Essentially Ellington", the nation's highest ranking high school jazz competition.

Jazzonian is very pleased to announce its 2011 Excellence in Jazz Education Award. This year's recipient is Mr. Christopher Dorsey, Band Director of the Jazz Orchestra at Dillard Center for the Arts.
