3rd Annual Celebrating Charlie Parker Festival

 

Jazzonian proudly presented the 3rd Annual Celebrating Charlie Parker Festival, hosted by Maestro Bobby Ramirez, Monday, August 25th, 7 PM, at the Bienes Center for the Arts at St. Thomas Aquinas, 2801 SW 12th Street, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312.

Thank you to the great musicians who participated: Ian Muñoz, saxophone; Ivan Velasquez, drums; Jose Velasquez, acoustic bass guitar; and Antuio Mora, piano.

 

 

We are proud to announce that this event was not funded by any Government agency; it was graciously supported financially by private donors that included Maestro Bobby Ramirez.

 

We also thank the volunteers that donated their valuable time to help this event possible--including Glenda R Mujer Esperanza, Gabriela Camilo, and Glenn Camilo Thank you :).

 

Thank you to the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel for helping to promote this event. We are very grateful to Joe Basi and the wonderful staff at the Bienes Center for the Arts that always go beyond the call of duty, thank you.

Thank you GOD for Charlie Parker, and for this blessed day where we honored this Jazz music icon; thank you GOD for my talent :)

 

Founded in 2009 as an educational cultural arts museum initiative by musician/philanthropist and creative visionary El Maestro Bobby Ramirez, Jazz Museum of Florida, Inc (dba Jazzonian) was established as a not-for-profit public charity organization on July 20th, 2009. Effective date of exemption under the 501c3 status on July 20th, 2009.

MISSION:
The mission of the South Florida Jazz Summit is to bring the Jazz industry together; committed to empowering Jazz; thereby, serving as a cultural bridge--bringing people together for this higher purpose of preserving, advancing and celebrating this precious American artform that we love called Jazz; providing networking and educational opportunity; helping to energize the local Jazz scene; bringing awareness to area Jazz institutions and organizations; showcasing the best emerging young Jazz talent from great area schools, as well as helping to empower South Florida as a world class destination for live Jazz.

Excellence in Jazz Education
Jazzonian is very pleased to announce its 2011 Excellence in Jazz Education Award. This year's recipient is Mr. Christopher Dorsey, Band Director of the Jazz Orchestra at Dillard Center for the Arts.

 

 

JAZZONIAN Traveling Exhibit
As part of our commitment to inspire, educate, and bring people together, JAZZONIAN is available as a traveling exhibit to local community schools, institutions and organizations seeking to create more awareness of Jazz while celebrating the rich history of this unique American art form.
