Beyond Jazz, at the time when I conceptualized the idea of creating a museum to celebrate Jazz in South Florida, I saw this as: It starts with people, and it ends with people. As a result, I've been greatly blessed to see so many wonderful people inspired by our mission and asking one simple question: What can I do for Jazz?
What would a Jazz museum do in South Florida?
Jazzonian would celebrate Jazz as America's most unique artform; preserve Jazz heritage; advance the legacy of Jazz; empower Jazz education through cultural outreach programs for kids and adults; empower the next generation of Jazz musicians as well as help to build future audiences; foster a deep appreciation for the artform; empower great local Jazz institutions and organizations; help establish Jazz as an important attraction to the area; empower South Florida as a world class destination for live Jazz; serve as an incubator for preserving the history of Jazz in the area, and more!
The story of Jazz (as is music and art) is a window to the human experience. In that spirit, Jazz has the potential to inspire in the form of creativity, positive self-esteem, overcoming adversity, freedom of expression, and exceptionalism.
The goal of having a Jazz museum in South Florida is audacious. With your involvement and/or partnership, we will achieve this goal. And in the process, you will become part of the Jazzonian movement that will inspire, educate, and bring people together!
